Artist Bio:
Native New Yorker, Korean-American, mostly self-taught artist, who after a long hiatus in corporate jobs returned to her passion for making art in mid-life. Yang was featured in "100 New York Painters" by C.M. Dantzic (Schiffer Books) and awarded a month-long residency at Vermont Studio Center in 2006. Her paintings are in private collections in the USA, Italy, Hong Kong, Austria; and in the collections of Brooks Brothers, NYU Langone Hospital and Montefiore Medical Center. She exhibits extensively in solo and group exhibitions in the metro-NYC area. One of her paintings was featured on the cover of City Journal, a premier urban policy magazine, summer 2016. Three paintings are currently on loan to the US State Department's Art In Embassies program in Geneva, Switzerland.She has maintained a studio in Gowanus for 17 years, painting plein air in historic Brooklyn neighborhoods and during occasional escapes from the city. She is best known for her intimate street views, capturing architectural details, light and shadow, and local colors.
