Artist Statement:
For Gowanus Open Studios 2018 I will be showing work from a number of projects in progress.

'Super Normal' is a photo series exploring how we interact with landscape. As we race into a future defined as much by the virtual world as the real one, our relationship to nature becomes more tenuous than ever. Our advanced technology allows us to remain alternately oblivious to our environment while at other times commodifying or dominating our organic surroundings.

'Adirondack Motels' - I grew up spending my summers in Lake George, NY, fascinated by the vintage motels that populate the area from the 50's and 60's. For the past ten years I have been documenting these unique gateways to the Adirondack wilderness before they fade away and disappear altogether.

'E-waste Planters' - As part of a summer residency with the Gowanus E-Waste Recycling Warehouse and Lower East Side Ecology Center, I made sculptural objects out of discarded electronics to serve as planters for flowers and plants and photographed them as veritas still lives.

'Gowanus Wild' is a personal exploration of nature and wilderness in the contaminated industrial neighborhood of Gowanus, Brooklyn where I live. I will be showing several new prints from the series which have not been exhibited before at larger sizes.

In addition to large framed prints I'll have boxes of work prints on hand from various projects in development. Stop by and flip through, I love getting feedback from viewers!
