Artist Statement:
The focus on place and home continues to influence my recent work. I have moved from a set representational formula whether its interiors or exteriors to making a picture about the irregular, the noncontiguous, the abstract, the unknown.

The mixture of lines and shapes drawn and painted on the surface has architectural and human references that get covered, forgotten and tangled over time. The lines reference scaffolding, pipes, windows and doors that cross over or cancel each other out. Bright orange and yellow are codes found on construction sites. All these elements are rooted in places I've seen, remembered or read about. They connect to the real world. The edge or boundaries directs the evolution of the painting. In some cases the contours of the shaped paintings are predestined because of the flattened boxes used as surface. In other pieces the centralized forms don't go to the edge of the rectangle.

These new combinations have provided chance narratives, which may give direction for the next series.
