Artist Statement:
I am a realist artist working in a contemporary style. Realist painting is a form of communication that is universally understood. My work falls into two categories; still life done directly from life and larger compositions involving landscapes with people and animals. A painting executed from life is not just a representation of a person or a thing. It is a record of an experience. It is a record of the time an artist has spent sitting with someone getting to know that person and observing them. Or it is a record of a time that artist spent observing the way light falls on an object and how it affects the colors. Or it can be a record of time spent outdoors observing a landscape and experiencing the change of light and atmosphere.
