Artist Bio:
Christina Massey blends and blurs the lines between sculpture, fiber arts and painting in her colorful, abstract, textural, two and three-dimensional artworks. Artists such as John Chamberlain, Lynda Benglis, El Anatsui and Lee Bontecou have influenced her work. Massey's work shares a sensitivity to materials, form and process with an inspiration from textiles and re-purposed products. Her work is exhibited frequently around the US and has shown abroad in cities such as London, Toronto and Tokyo. Her work was featured in this year's SPRING/BREAK Art Show in NYC, she is currently a recipient of the SIP Fellowship with the Elizabeth Foundation Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop, a Puffin Grant recipient and currently has a solo show at the Noyes Art Museum in NJ and another solo exhibition planned for January in Port Washington, NY.

Artist Statement:
Nature has always been very influential in my work and acts as a hidden agenda and representative aspect in my otherwise abstract work. The preservation of our environment and appreciation for nature reveals itself through my choice of materials and form. Be that from recycled found or collected objects to vaguely aerial landscapes or organic shapes that can resemble bugs or floral pods. Each work asks the viewer to stretch their imagination and invites their curiosity in a struggle to identify their marks, engaging in the creative process through the act of exploration of the Art.
