About the Organization:
The LES Ecology Center has been pioneering community-based models in urban sustainability since 1987. We provide unique e-waste and composting services, environmental stewardship opportunities, and educational programming to all New Yorkers who want to learn about environmental issues and take responsibility for creating solutions through action.

What'a on view durring GOS:
A selection of works from the 2018 Gowanus E-Waste Warehouse artists in residence:

Miska Draskoczy is a photographer based in Gowanus. Miska will be creating sculptural planters out of electronic waste, bringing together natural objects with ones that are man-made.

Keiko Miyamori is a Japanese artist who explores the inner and outer lives of objects, often using traditional Japanese materials. Keiko will wrap discarded electronics with Japanese paper, giving them new life.

Andrew Jan Hauner is a teaching artist who focuses on new ways of seeing. Andrew will disassemble electronics to access their screens. He will use these screens as material for kaleidoscopes, microscopes, and other view finders.
