Artist Bio:
Whitney Ramage is a cross-disciplinary visual artist. Her sculptures, performative videos, installations, photographs and drawings all deal with the human body and its relation to the world. Ramage received her MFA in Fine Arts (Sculpture) from Pratt Institute in 2014, and her BA in Sculpture from Castleton University in 2010. Her work has been exhibited in New York, Miami, Boston, and Vermont and she has spent time at a variety of artist residency programs, The Studios at Mass MoCA and Virginia Center for the Creative Arts among them. She also serves as the residency director for 77ART- a Vermont art center that debuted its residency program this year.

Artist Statement:
My practice is a string of experiments examining the nuances of the human body in space. Philosophical and poetic, my practice probes into theories of existence and non-existence, embodiment and disembodiment. Through a broad range of media I dissect our shifting relation to our irreducible phenomenological bodies. What do consciousness and interpersonal relations mean to us when so much of our experience is mediated by the virtual? How do we articulate the slippages between reality and perception? The resulting work is undeniably female and caresses the edges of concepts such as death, lifecycles, and birth.
