Artist Bio:
PilgerDesigns was launched in the fall of 2009 by Beth Pilger. Beth Pilger was born and
raised in the mountains of Appalachia in West Virginia. An avid collector of vintage clothing and knitwear led
to an exploration in fiber and felting, producing pieces with contrasting materials and unique
elements. She studied fashion design at Parsons the New School for Design in New York. During
her 15 year career as a fashion and costume designer Beth has exhibited widely in the US and
abroad, from Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Amsterdam to movie premieres and international
music stages. Her work has also been featured on TV as well as international fashion sites such
as Vogue Italia. After a four year hiatus, Beth is excited to be presenting a new body of couture
knitwear this fall inspired by her experiences and memories of the south. With sustainability as
a dominant force, this new body of work seeks to blur the line between art and design, offering
a truly conceptual experience. Beth partnered with local farmers and businesses to showcase
the beauty of natural materials within her designs. Each piece is handcrafted using hand spun
or recycled yarns with hand felted fabrics and reclaimed wood. Pilger taps into America's rich
fiber resources to create an amazing array of hand spun, hand knit, and hand felted pieces
using wool, mohair, cotton, and feathers.
