Artist Statement:
I have always had an interest in different strategies of representing the corporeal body. My recent immersive installation of paintings is an amalgamation of both figurative and semi-abstract representations of blood cells. My work with cells is an entry point through which I understand and perceive the body on a micro scale, in a way that emphasizes both the marvel and fragility of being alive. My "cell" paintings are representative of the various complex systems that continuously work together, determining our wellbeing. This series highlights the imperceptible and hidden elements of the biological system as a way to visualize what the body goes through during any given living moment.
