Artist Bio:
Lynn Goodman is a native New Yorker. She currently lives and works in Brooklyn.
She received her BFA at the Philadelphia College of Art (now, the University of the Arts), and went on to receive an MFA in Ceramics at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale.
Lynn has shown nationally in juried exhibits and invitationals, and is a former partner of the cooperative crafts gallery, Brooklyn Artisans Gallery. She teaches wheel throwing, hand building and the occasional glaze calculation class at local ceramics studios.

Artist Statement:
I make porcelain pieces which are thrown on a potter's wheel, individually carved and inlaid with multiple colors of glaze, and finished with gold. Over the years my focus and inspiration has shifted, from Chinese and Japanese to Turkish and Persian; from starkly minimal blacks and whites to lush color; and from a smoothly stone-like surface to a texturally varied, almost decadent surface.
I also use underglaze decals for an illustrative approach on many pieces.
In addition, I make tableware that is intended for daily use; while it is also thrown porcelain, it is microwave and dishwasher safe.

The one thing that has never changed is the intent that these pieces are functional as well as decorative. They are meant to be used and enjoyed by the owner, the textures to be touched and the colors to be blended in or contrasted with the living environment.
