Artist Statement:
My work confronts the ways in which my identity and sexuality intersect with materiality. I source imagery from video performances that evoke self-exploration and memoir, while also allowing the intrinsically raw qualities of the medium to create conceptual depth in the compositions. The indexing of my body is used as a conduit for contextualizing social and political dialogue, autobiographical experiences, collective injustices, and the confining societal structures placed on women. The layering of imagery is a paradigm for the unfolding and deconstructing work of artists who have used their bodies as a confrontational medium to release frustrations concerning the ownership of discussion about women's bodies and sexuality.
